Original Steps that were in disrepair. The cement joints were loose and the bricks were disintergrating. XXX XXX

Excavated around entire staircase to examine footings. Determined that the original footing were at the proper depth and solid. XXX

Demolition of the staircase above the footing begins. Rebuilding the steps will be done using the existing footing as the base.

Construction begins by determining desired finished height of the porch. Concrete blocks are set with Mason mix and leveled.

String lines were used as a guide for proper alignment of the blocks and used to check every row of block.

The hollow core of the porch before the center was filled with additional concrete block.

Solid 4 x 8 x 16 block added around perimeter proch top to obtain proper height. Hollow block added to proch center. xxx

Scratch coat of Mason mix applied to entire exterior. Note porch center is slightly higher than perimeter in anticipation of 1" Flagstone center. xxx

Cultured Stone corners were applied to the scratch coat. At this point, final measurment for the treads and perimeter stone are taken, noting what edges of the stones need to be finished.

2" thick Rainbow Treads and perimeter porch top stones were set. Using Sand Mix for the setting bed, care is taken to make sure the stones are set with the proper pitch.

1" thick Rainbow flagstones were set for the proch top center. Again Sand mix is used to set the stone as well as the fill cement for the joints. xxx

Finished staircase is ready for the installation of metal railings. xxx xxx
